TRANSITION ZONE

Between past and future lies the Transition Zone—a space for reflection, play, and realisation. Here, audiences are confronted with the foods we are losing right now and the systems that make our current food production fragile.

Interactive installations such as Time Well and Feed the Dino make complex temporal and ecological scales accessible to both children and adults. The zone demonstrates how monocultures, overexploitation, and climate change threaten everything from bananas and coffee to global fish stocks. To illustrate this, three giant sculptures—a banana and two coffee beans—are placed on the floor, inviting visitors to embrace these beloved tastes that we are on the edge of losing.

The Transition Zone serves as the exhibition’s moral centre—not through guilt or instruction, but through the recognition that we are living inside the story, and that our choices shape the future menu.
